Developmental & Relational Trauma

When we hear the word "trauma," many of us think about single incidents, or big, catastrophic events. But what about the days you were screamed at, ignored, pushed too hard, or criticized? A less explicit form of trauma occurs when we form unpredictable, challenging, or limited bonds with our care-takers. The impacts of this, though, are often significant and leave us feeling challenged in our interpersonal relationships of today.

LGBTQ+/Queer Experiences

Too often, for too many queer people, going to therapy can be yet another experience of being dismissed, misunderstood, or in the position of "educator." While I cannot claim to be an expert on your identity, I will offer you a container where you can explore, grieve, and dream in equal measure, without having to concern yourself with teaching or defending along the way.

Adolescence

Being a teenager is different for everyone, but frequently, it involves feeling at odds with your environment, parents or siblings, and yourself. I feel particularly suited to support those ages 14-18 move through this often painful and confusing chapter of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS AN LCSW?

Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) are specialists who understand that people are products of their environment, and that in order to achieve peace internally, we must also look at the environment. To my work, I bring a commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppressive, queer affirming, HAES (health at every size) care.

LCSW's in California and New York are individuals who are licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences and the New York State Office of the Professions, respectively. Requirements for licensure include a master's degree, passage of two comprehensive written examinations, and at least 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. I am licensed in both California and New York.

DO YOU OFFER TELEHEALTH OR IN-PERSON SESSIONS?

Yes to both! I offer both in-person sessions at my office in West Los Angeles and virtual sessions over zoom.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I am happy to provide you with a monthly superbill for insurance reimbursement, but do not contract with third parties for payment. I do this because insurance companies typically have stringent limitations about the number and type of sessions that can be provided. I find these limits constraining to the type of depth-oriented work my clients and I do together and never want to compromise the quality of service I'm providing.

HOW OFTEN DO I GO TO THERAPY?

Sessions occur once per week and are 50 minutes in length. Much of the success of therapy hinges upon the quality of relationship between therapist and client, and in order to see change, it is important that we meet consistently. That being said, therapy is not necessarily forever! Your therapy may last anywhere from a few months up to many years. My fee is $250 per session. I also reserve several adjusted-fee spots for clients who are in need of healing, but whose financial situations require a lower fee.
